About the Clock

Enfield was one of Britain's most respected domestic clock brands throughout the mid-20th century, producing reliable mechanical movements in well-made cases. This tambour example has a strong Art Deco character — the curved oak case, large circular dial and chrome bezel give it a clean, confident look that works equally well in a traditional or contemporary setting.

The two-train movement strikes the hours and a single blow on the half hour on a coiled gong, with a pleasing clear tone.

Condition & Running

The clock presents very well from the front. The oak case retains a warm finish and the dial is clean and readable. The accessible pivots have been cleaned and the movement lightly oiled.

Cosmetic wear includes light marks, minor edge wear, some age-related wear around the bezel area and light scratching to the rear door — all consistent with age. Please study all photographs carefully — they form an important part of the condition description.

Delivery & Setup

The clock will be carefully packed using generous protective materials. On arrival, place on a stable level surface and set the beat. Minor adjustment after transit is normal for any vintage mechanical clock and is not a fault.
