A beautifully proportioned German mantel clock dating from the early 1930s, housed in a solid quarter-sawn oak case with attractive Art Deco styling. The rich oak grain, stepped moulding and silvered dial combine to create an elegant yet understated design that suits both traditional and contemporary interiors, a piece that will happily sit as well in a period sitting room as on a modern shelf.

The original two-train mechanical movement drives the hands and a clean, mellow strike on a coiled gong, sounding the hours and the half hour. It's a quieter, more restrained voice than a full Westminster chime, ideal for anyone who wants the charm and craftsmanship of a genuine mechanical clock without a room-filling chime every quarter hour.

Condition: The oak case presents beautifully with a deep, warm colour and striking natural grain. The silvered dial shows an attractive aged patina appropriate to its age, while the original hands and brass bezel complete the classic appearance. Overall the clock is in excellent restored condition with only light, age-related signs of use.
