Meet Hector, a broad-shouldered Art Deco gentleman with solid architectural lines, a wonderfully aged face and a surprisingly resonant voice.
Dating from around the 1930s, this substantial mechanical mantel clock combines a distinctive architectural wooden case with a quality German movement manufactured by Haller. The Haller trademark is clearly stamped on the rear movement plate.

Art Deco Case
The impressive wooden case has a broad architectural form with a central arched hood flanked by stepped rectangular shoulders. Reeded vertical panels and geometric mouldings across the front give it a particularly strong Art Deco appearance.
Contrasting veneers add warmth and visual interest, particularly across the shoulders and lower front section. The case has been sympathetically cleaned and revived while retaining its original surface, age-related variation and honest character.
The hinged glazed bezel opens correctly to provide access to the two winding points. A shaped wooden rear door allows straightforward access to the movement, gong and pendulum.
Dial
The silvered metal dial features bold black Arabic numerals, a traditional railway-style chapter ring and simple period hands. It displays visible scratches, marks and patination accumulated through decades of use. These have deliberately been preserved rather than refinished and are clearly shown in the photographs.

Condition
This is an authentic vintage clock and carries cosmetic wear consistent with its age. The dial is notably aged, while the wooden case presents attractively following sympathetic restoration.
