Vintage Enfield Art Deco Mantel Clock Gong Strike 1930s Restored England
Constance is a wonderfully architectural English mantel clock from the Art Deco period, made by Enfield and presented in a particularly attractive stepped case with contrasting black detailing, warm figured timber and a bright chrome bezel.
Her design is distinctly 1930s: a broad horizontal base, central curved drum and geometric side platforms create a strong Deco silhouette, while the original-style silvered dial and stylised Arabic numerals complete the look.

Meet Constance
Constance has a little more attitude than the average mantel clock. The black stepped platforms and plinth details contrast beautifully with the warmer timber, while the chrome bezel gives the face a crisp, almost machine-age finish.
She retains the age and character expected of a clock approaching a century old, as shown in the photographs, and this has deliberately not been erased as it forms part of the clock's history and visual appeal.
Sympathetically Restored
The case has been carefully cleaned and revived to bring back the depth and warmth of the timber while retaining original age-related character. The contrasting black decorative sections have been preserved rather than refinished, and the chrome bezel and dial have been carefully cleaned to improve presentation without attempting to make the clock appear new.
Mechanical Condition
Constance is running and ticking happily, with the mechanical movement operating as intended at the time of listing. The gong gives a traditional period strike with a warm, resonant tone.
As with all antique mechanical clocks, final timekeeping can vary slightly depending on position, level and environment, and minor regulation may occasionally be required after transport.
