Vintage 1950s Smiths Enfield "Beverley" Mantel Clock
Fully Serviced • Gong Strike • Oak Case • Made in England
A particularly attractive vintage Smiths Enfield "Beverley" mantel clock, dating from approximately 1954–1955 and made in England.
This handsome mid-century clock features a beautifully figured oak case with an unusual wood-grain dial, applied silver-tone Roman numerals, ornate period hands and a large convex glass front within a silver-tone bezel.
Behind the dial is a traditional mechanical Smiths movement with pendulum regulation and gong strike. The clock strikes with a pleasing resonant tone and retains its traditional rear access door and period Smiths winding key.
About Smiths Enfield
Smiths Enfield clocks were produced by Smiths English Clocks Ltd, one of Britain's foremost mid-20th-century clockmakers, based at Enfield, Middlesex. The "Beverley" model was part of the company's mantel clock range of the mid-1950s, prized today for its distinctive wood-grain dial finish and period Art Deco-influenced case profile.
