This listing is for a full mechanical service of striking and chiming clock movements, carried out using a complete strip-down and traditional hand cleaning of all components, including the mainsprings.

All work is done manually using clock-cleaning solvents.
No ultrasonic cleaning is used.

Suitable for spring-driven mantel, bracket, and wall clocks with multiple trains, including:

• Hour or half-hour strike
• Bell or gong strike
• Westminster and other melodic chimes

Quartz or battery movements are not serviced.

What’s included

• Full dismantling of all trains
• Removal of mainsprings from their barrels
• Hand cleaning of plates, wheels, levers, pinions, and components in clock-cleaning solvent
• Cleaning, inspection, and lubrication of mainsprings before refitting
• Inspection of pivots, bearing surfaces, and strike/chime components
• Reassembly with correct clock oils applied sparingly
• Synchronisation and adjustment of strike and chime mechanisms
• Hammer lift, drop, and alignment adjustment
• Beat setting and regulation of the time train
• Extended bench testing to confirm reliable timekeeping, strike, and chime operation

This is the same level of mechanical service used on my seller-refurbished antique clocks listed on eBay.

Optional case restoration (additional cost)

Sympathetic case restoration can be provided by separate quotation if requested.

This may include careful cleaning of the case, revival of the original finish (wax or polish depending on case), and gentle cleaning of bezels and fittings.
All case work is conservation-led, respecting age and originality.

• Replacement or fabricated parts (quoted separately if required)
• Wheel cutting or advanced mechanical reconstruction
• Structural wood repairs, veneer replacement, or dial restoration

Any additional work is discussed and agreed before proceeding.
